The idyllic Venice canals are one of the stops on my tour along the Pacific Coast Highway from Malibu to Marina Del Rey. As I mentioned in my post about mom and dad’s trip, the canals are tucked away just minutes from the everything-goes scene on the Venice boardwalk and not too far from our apartment.
City founder Abbot Kinney intended to create the Venice of America when he built several miles of canals in 1905. The few that remained were renovated in the 1990s.
The Los Angeles Times recently created a slideshow featuring the most colorful house on the canals, which is owned by Nely Galan, former president of entertainment for Telemundo and executive producer of the Fox reality show “The Swan.”
